Rewind...
Since we missed out on a few, ok, 6 months of blogging the pregnancy, I wanted to get some "important dates" down- before the pregnancy brain really kicks in...
November 10th, 2009: Chris and I found out we were pregnant
November 14th: My doctor confirmed what we already knew: "Yep, you're definitely pregnant."
November 17th: Our first sonogram. Chris went with me, and I think we were both more than a little shocked to see the "bean" inside of me and listen to it's heartbeat. Even though we had been told that I was pregnant, I don't think it really hit us until we saw it with our own eyes.
November 19th: Our second ultrasound, and God's first opportunity to show us that he had this under control. My OB sent us to a specialist because he was concerned about some "debris" that he had seen the day before during the first ultrasound. He told us to schedule an appointment with the specialist as soon as possible... Chris and I were on the phone before we got out of the parking lot, and we managed to get in to see a perinatal doctor the very next day (thank you God), in a town far, far, away. (Ok, so it wasn't that far, but Chris didn't blink when I told him we'd have to drive to Forsyth county if we wanted to see anyone in the next few weeks.) This turned out to be such a blessing, because the doctor said that everything looked just fine to him. Again, thank you God!
November 20th: "Guess what..." Chris and I called our families to share the good news. They were just as shocked as we were!
January 20th, 2009: We received "elevated results" from a blood test that I had done. We were sent to the specialist again, who said that he did not see any of the "markers" for genetic deformation. He gave us the option of having an amnio done to rule out the issue completely, but we decided that there was no need- we're going to love this baby no matter what, and once again, God has this under control!
February 10th: We went in for another ultrasound. I wanted to know the sex of the baby, but Chris wasn't so sure... We had the tech write down the sex of the baby and seal it in an envelope. We decided to think about whether or not we wanted to find out!
February 17th: There really is something in there. Ok, so it sounds strange, but until this day, despite all of the images and sounds, I can't say that I was REALLY convinced that there was a baby inside of me. And then, he/she started moving around. I felt the first "kick" while I was sitting on the couch before bed. I had heard it would feel like bubbles. Not so much, but there is definitely a baby in there!
March 16th: After another visit to the specialist, we were thrilled with what we heard. Dr. Trevett said that the baby's heart was "perfect", and that the baby looked very healthy. Once again, we had the ultrasound tech keep the sex of the baby from us, but we did get more pictures to add to the baby book.
